Hi everyone!
A rainy day has given me a chance to send a quick update on how harvest is going. The last time I sent one of these was kind of a bummer. We appreciate all of the concern, prayers, etc. for Tony and the farm after the combine fire. In some ways, it seems like that was a long time ago now. Tony is doing great. He ended up having second degree burns over much of his skin that wasn’t covered with clothes. Tony has been helping somewhat limitedly around the farm for a while now, and as of yesterday, the doctors have cleared him to go with no restrictions. This is such a praise. We are all happy to have him back in the saddle, partly because he is a good worker, but mostly just because he’s a great guy to have around.
We have had a tough fall in several different ways, but it seems that things are getting back to “normal”. The yields have been great. The soybeans have been a challenge to harvest but we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for them. The popcorn is all done now, thanks to Parker and Trent sticking with a tough job of harvesting down corn. We finally got all of the wheat planted, but some of it is so late that we are not confident it will make a good crop.
I am watching it snow right now outside the farm office! Thankful for it all!
